StarCon

StarCon has been postponed
Due to a sudden medical emergency, it has become necessary to postpone STARCON 2011to a later date. ÒThere will be some changes to the convention since some of the actors who were available for STARCON in June, may no longer be available at the new date. However, we are talking to another convention company for possible partnership which will add more events and excitement to our conventionÓ, said STARCON 2011 organizer, Patricia Stewart-Bertrand, Òas soon as we have a new date and location, we will inform everyone.Ó

Anime at the Roundhouse: Claymore

Roundhouse Community Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver, BC

Unfortunetly I can't reserve a room as they go entirely by a drop-in basis. We may get a room right away or we'll have to wait some time for a room to become available upon which we can use it. There is 3 rooms that have HD TV's and DVD players in them which would suit our purposes just fine. The other room we would unfortunelty need our own equipment for it.
If we have to wait a while for a room or don't get a room at all there is a Sushi place called "Sushi Maro" at 220 Davie Street which is a short distance away. Worse Case Scenario we'll end up there for some socializing and sushi.
Brian will be lending us his Box set of the show which we'll have at least 2 hours to watch. Hopefully more if we are lucky.

Klingon Pictionary

La Fontana Caffe, 3701 Hastings (at Boundary), Burnaby, BC, V5C 2H6

This is of course a skill that preliterate Klingons had to perfect in order to communicate during the hunt without startling their prey through sound or gestures. We'll follow their tradition in order to foster thinking in Klingon, and to find out who among us has the most hilarious art skills. One person has a Klingon word or phrase and then has to get the others to guess it only by drawing pictures: no words or gestures allowed. In this version the guessers may only guess in Klingon. Dictionaries can be permitted for those who require them. We'll something like a whiteboard or paper easel, if anyone has one, and John's excellent raktajno and panini will be called for. We may also play a couple of rounds of bIngo', so review your numbers, please.
